During this very strange & trying time, things will be stressful for everyone at home, including your child.  Use this time to enjoy spending quality time with your child.  Cuddle up together & Read, Read, Read!! Let your child tell you the story in their own words.  This will help their language development, memory & recall skills.  Bake a cake, measuring & weighing ingredients, talking about the change in substance.  This will help their pre-maths & early science skills.  Make play dough together & add a range of natural materials.  See how creative your child can be.  Watch TV together, paint a picture.  Get out the Lego & build together, developing their fine motor & creativity skills.  Set up a tent in your living room & go camping.  Create adventures for your child.  Let your child dress themselves in the morning - putting on own socks & shoes - all the time increasing their independence & motor skills.  Now that you have time, let them make their own snacks - pouring their own drinks, buttering & cutting their own bread, pancakes, crackers.  Teach them life skills!!  Let your child help with the washing - matching socks, counting pants, helping their pre-maths skills.  

More importantly than anything, have fun with your child!! When possible, play outside - jumping, hopping, skipping, throwing, catching, running & climbing.  Teach them to ride a bike.  Keep your child as physically active as possible.  Don’t stress about “teaching” them.  Just spend good, quality time together.  Although this may be an upsetting time for a child when out of routine, it could very well turn out to be a time they remember as the best time in their life!  Please, please don’t stress.  Use this time to really enjoy your child.
